Catering Manager

Up to £24,000 per annum

We have a great opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Catering Manager with the desire and drive to take the lead in managing the restaurant and bakery in a family owned Garden Centre, alongside liaising with the Farm Shop Manager.

As a hands-on “foodie” you will have the enthusiasm, initiative and personality from day one to design and deliver a mouthwatering, freshly cooked range of food and beverages, exemplary management standards in the kitchen and professional and efficient front of house services. This role is very customer focused and facing and you will become the figurehead of the catering operation.

You will take pride in the team and draw satisfaction from developing their individual and collective skills and expertise. You will also enjoy involving them in planning, marketing and delivering seasonal and all year-round promotions and activities.

Ambitious, IT literate and commercially aware you will hold a very ‘hands on’ position within the operation, leading, motivating and developing the team across the catering department and liasing with relevant managers and owners to develop the product and business. You will be responsible for staff recruitment and training, as well as your budgets and ensuring all relevant paperwork and records are kept up to date and stored in line with company procedures.

You will either have formal qualifications such as NVQ3/BTEC/City and Guilds/Degree/ equivalent or be “qualified by experience” in a management role. You should be up to date with food hygiene standards and certification and would ideally hold a level 4 food hygiene qualification (Although this can be worked towards once in post)

The working hours are sociable (c. 40-45 per week) and rotas include a mix of weekday and weekend working.



What We Are Looking For

Successful Catering Manager candidates will preferably possess / be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar catering establishment

  • Ability to maintain the highest standards at all times and a keen eye for detail.

  • Organised and hands-on to ensure optimal service to customers and staff.

  • Great team leader with a strong emphasis on developing a ‘can do’ attitude within the team

  • Your own transport is desirable due to the nature of the work, but not essential

  • Qualified to ideally level 4 in Food Hygiene, though not essential

  • Excellent working references / recommendations from previous employers.
