We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who has an opening within their organisation for a strong Pastry Chef.
Situated in the Sussex countryside about 15 miles from the centre of Brighton, this private family run country gastro pub boasts a carefully constructed menu, including light lunches to more fine dining evening dishes.
An ideal candidate would not only be passionate about food and delivering a smooth service, but also about ensuring the success of the establishment. You need to be a real team player and continue the tradition of effective team working and putting the customers first.
Previous experience as a Pastry Chef at an establishment providing fresh, exciting, locally sourced food is of course essential. As you’ll be working alongside the Head Chef, effective communication, using your initiative and managing the team well under pressure are attributes an ideal candidate would possess.
JOB ROLE:
In the Head Chef’s absence you would help run the kitchen and ensure high standards are consistently met
Communicate effectively with the Head Chef as to needs and ordering requirements
Work as part of a team in a constructive manner and have a committed approach to the development of creative service in the kitchen
Have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety and food hygiene regulations
Maintain cleanliness, stock control and general organisation of the kitchen
Train new staff and help them to develop their career and the business
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong background in high quality gastro pubs or similar
Able to consistently produce high volume orders with effective speed, but without comprising the quality or presentation of the dishes
Experience in using fresh seasonal produce, and planning a menu that can be altered in line with locally sourced goods
Come up with new and exciting dishes for daily specials
Food Hygiene level 2 or above
Own transport is preferred
PACKAGE:
Accommodation: Can be provided
Salary: £25,000 per annum
Hours: Around 50 Hours per week, 5 days out of 7
Holidays: 28 per annum
